Barry Kaplan, a Partner in Shift 180, is respected as an expert in organizational development and leadership of people and teams, guided by his insight and compassion.
Barry has held entrepreneurial and senior executive roles in the tourism industry ranging from: COO of Liberty Travel, a 200-store chain with over 2,000 employees from 1986-1995; Board member of King International Corporation, a public company in hotel, gaming and restaurant businesses from 1986 - 1990; President and Board member of Transmedia Network, a public company from 1995-1998; co-founder and senior executive of 21-company roll-up funded by private equity from 1998-2003;and until 2008 owner of a specialty group travel company. Earlier in his career, Barry practiced corporate law.
Recognizing his signature strengths of identifying untapped potential in individuals and groups - coupled with decades of success in inspiring people and building teams, Barry trained extensively and led small group and executive team retreats, and in 2008 Barry chose to follow his passion and use his talents to guide leaders in their development as a full-time vocation. Barry is an executive coach for entrepreneurs, leaders and their teams and actively leads small group, board and management team offsite and retreats. Barry works extensively with YPO and EO, and has facilitated hundreds of Forum retreats and training workshops.
Barry received his B.S., magna cum laude, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 1980, and a Juris Doctor, with honors, from The George Washington University Law School in 1983. He has been a member of YPO since 1993 in New Jersey and Florida, and is past Chapter Chair of the New Jersey WPO Chapter and active volunteer in community affairs. Barry is married and has a daughter.
